A $97,300 grant recently awarded to St. Anthony Regional Hospital through the Iowa Workforce Development Central Iowa Job Training Program will support the education and training for those interested in becoming medical assistants. Initiated in 2020 through a partnership with Mercy College of Health Sciences, the program brings medical assistant training opportunities to the region. These grants are a means to create sustainable programs that train Iowans with job skills and serves to extend the MA Training program through the coming year. “We are excited at the prospect of providing support for those interested in joining the healthcare workforce,” says President and CEO of St. Anthony, Ed Smith. “With medical assistants in high-demand, this training program provides a great opportunity for those interested in starting a career in healthcare.” A medical assistant works in the offices of physicians and other healthcare practitioners and is educated to provide a combination of clinical and administrative duties. This could include taking medical histories and vital signs, explaining treatment procedures and administering medications. Participants of the St. Anthony MA Training Program will begin in April 2022 with completion the following spring. The deadline for enrollment is Jan. 31, 2022 and can be done by following the link included below.
