Peggy Laursen of Sac City

Peggy Laursen, age 88 of Sac City, IA, passed away at her home in Sac City on Sunday, October 31, 2021.  Peggy Joyce Paup was born on April 6, 1933, to parents Carl and Dorothy (Anderson) Paup in Scranton, IA.  She attended Country School Jackson #9 and graduated from Scranton High School with the class of 1951.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, IA, with Reverend Cory Kroonblawd officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date in Scranton, IA. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
On October 15, 1953, Peggy was united in marriage to Francis Eugene Laursen in Jefferson, IA.  This union was blessed with four children: Jens Kim, Joyce Kitty, Joel Kent, and Jay Kelly.  They raised their family on a farm northwest of Sac City.  After the death of Francis in 1973, Peggy was married to Cliff Scheffler on April 21, 1975.  She later owned Crown Jewelry, was employed at Marjo’s Flowers and Gifts, Matt’s Shoes, Noble Popcorn, and Sac City Drug retiring in 2013.
In her free time, Peggy enjoyed being outside in her garden and was a member of the garden club for several years.  She also liked playing cards, golfing, and dancing.  Family meant everything to Peggy. She was an incredibly supportive mom and grandma who loved attending her kids’ and grandkids’ special events and just spending time with them in general.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Kim (Pat) Laursen of Sac City, IA, Kitty (Dale) Drey of Lake View, IA Kent (Nancy) Laursen of Springfield, MO, and Kelly (Betty) Laursen of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: John (Laura) Laursen, Jenny (Josh) Jevne, Brian (Brandy) Drey, Melissa Drey, Brent (Marie) Drey, Kyle Laursen, Kollin Laursen, Karl Laursen, Cheston (Stephanie) Laursen, and Colton Laursen; great-grandchildren: Grace Frager, Addison Daisy, Meredith, and Barron Drey, Margot Laursen, Nora, George, and Henry Jevne; sisters: Rita Halsey and Jane Higgs: Brothers-in-law,  Fred (Mary) Scheffler, Gene(Diane) Scheffler, Don (Florence) Scheffler, Sisters-in-law, Frances (Marv) Schettler, and Shirley Bales; nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Francis Laursen; second husband Cliff Scheffler; parents Carl and Dorothy Paup; sister and brother-in-law: Donna and George MacDonald; brothers-in-law, David Halsey, Ivan (Jean) Laursen, Bob Scheffler, Sisters-in-law, Elsie Helmbrecht, and Sandy Jarvis.
