A substantial water main break in Wall Lake left residents without service this (Monday) evening. According to city officials, the leak was discovered at approximately 8:30 p.m. just south of the town’s water tower. Due to difficulties in isolating the problem area, the entire system had to be shut down to facilitate repairs. As a result, a boil order has been issued for all customers on the water supply. The order is effective immediately and will remain active until the city receives at least two tests indicating the system is clear of any contamination. All water used for consumption must be boiled for at least one minute. This includes for drinking, washing dishes, brushing teeth, making ice or other similar purposes. Clerk, Chris Rodman, says they are optimistic service will be restored relatively quickly, but he reminds residents the advisory will last for at least 48 hours. Anybody with questions is asked to contact Wall Lake City Hall at 712-664-2216.
