Water Emergency Declaration Extended Again For Audubon Residents

The City of Audubon has again extended an existing declaration of water emergency for residents. On Friday, Mayor, Barb Jacobsen, signed a proclamation that shifted the projected end date for the order to Wednesday, Dec. 1. The declaration has been in effect since June and restricts unnecessary water usage by customers on the municipal supply. This includes watering yards, washing vehicles and equipment, running ornamental fountains or other similar purposes. The penalty for noncompliance is $100 for a first offense, $200 for a second offense and $300 for third and subsequent offenses. The order was originally issued due to an unseasonably dry summer in conjunction with scheduled improvements to the city’s water wells. City officials indicated last month they were hopeful the declaration would be ending soon as that work finishes and water consumption decreases into the colder months. Questions regarding the declaration can be directed to Audubon City Hall at 712-563-3269.
