Incumbent, Duane Horsley, was elected to a third term on the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education in last night’s (Tuesday) city/school elections. Four candidates were seeking two seats on the board with newcomer, Kristen Lundstrom, winning the other spot. Lundstrom and Horsley led the way in the unofficial tally at 1,532 and 1504 votes, respectively. Horsley thanks the community for the support and their continued confidence in him to help shape the district’s future.

Carroll County saw the fourth highest voter turnout in the state with 4,367 ballots cast from the nearly 15,000 registered voters, or 29.57 percent. Horsley says it is good to see so many people interested in what is happening in their local schools and communities.

Horsley will be the longest-tenured director when the new board is sworn in later this year. The other members are Karen Friedlein, Cindy Johnson and Onica Ulveling, and all three are about halfway through their first elected terms. While the board is changing somewhat, Horsley says the district’s needs and goals have not.
