One incumbent will retain his seat on the Carroll Community School District Board of Education and will be joined by a newcomer following Tuesday’s City and School Elections. There were four candidates vying for the two seats and newcomer, Kristen Lundstrom, took home the most votes of all four with the unofficial count at 1,532. Duane Horsley, the long-term incumbent, came away with 1,504. The other incumbent, Jen Munson, fell shy of reelection with 1,218 votes while the fourth candidate, Salissou (Sal) Sani Saidou received 593 votes. In other local contested races, there were five candidates on the ballot for three open seats on the Coon Rapids-Bayard Community School District Board. Those have gone to incumbents Patrick McCalister with 361 votes, Chad Leighty with 286 and Randi Cretsings who received 325 votes. In the IKM-Manning Board election, the two incumbents retain their at-large seats. Sam Hansen received 613 votes and Luke Potthoff tallied 571. Amy Ferneding will be returning for another term representing District 1B with 578 votes to the 350 received by Megan Reis. In District 2B Josh Linde got the win with 648 votes to the 338 received by Steven Wiskus. IKM-Manning also had two public measures on the ballot and both were overwhelmingly approved. The first, for a $1.24 Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) to be used for facility improvements received 737 yes votes to 260 no votes and the second, for adoption of a revenue purpose statement on the use of money from the Secure and Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) fund passed with 765 for and 232 against.
