Carroll Councilman for Ward Three, Clay Haley, will be wrapping up his second term in office at the end of this year after being defeated in Tuesday’s election by newcomer, Kyle Bauer, on a total unofficial vote count of 347 for Bauer and 204 for Haley. And even though Haley says it took a good deal of thought before he made the decision to run for a third term, he was still a bit nervous as polls began to close across the region.

Haley says he is happy to answer questions and work with the candidates any way he can. He does advise them all to study and know the budget well and he says he is assured they will put in good time on the issues facing the city today and in the future. He adds it takes a good amount of time to acclimate to the new role.

At this point, Haley says he has no official plans to seek another position in formal public service. However, he will remain active in many different ways and will be turning some of his focus to other areas of his life.
