Monday’s regular meeting of the Carroll City Council will open with an introduction of the newest staff member, Parks and Recreation Director, Chad Tiemeyer. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says Tiemeyer will be addressing the council formally a little later, with the bid results for three new scoreboards at the Youth Sports Complex and more.

Four bids were received for the scoreboard project, ranging from $10,350.89 to $16,494.99. In other business, Pogge-Weaver says the urban revitalization area will be brought back for a second reading.

This is not to be confused with the city’s urban renewal plan, which is also on Monday’s agenda.

The additional areas include the Adams Street corridor, locations on U.S. Highway 30, both far west and far east, and some of the Union Pacific Railroad abutments, potentially for use in a quiet zone designation. The TIF (Tax Increment Financing) area will also include the Villa on Carroll Street. Current owners, Brian and Holly Wendl, were able to find the original architectural plans and are working to bring the beautiful old building back to its former glory. Other items for discussion include the substantial completion of 2020 water main distribution replacements and the consideration of a request for water services within two miles of corporate city limits. This would allow the West Central Iowa Rural Water Association to provide service to a proposed residential project on South Grant Road. Monday’s meeting will convene at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall. The public is invited to attend in person or they can join by phone or digital means. The meeting can also be viewed on local access cable, CAAT6, or on the city’s YouTube channel. Details on how to join, the agenda and packet of materials for the meeting can be found below.
