Two Arrested When Caught By Owner Trying To Sell Stolen Property

Two men were arrested in Sac County when caught by the owner trying to sell property they stole from him. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office reports they responded to a location in the 2100 block of Dean Avenue at approximately 9:18 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3. The complaint called in stated there were two people in possession of stolen property and the owner of that property was present. When the deputy arrived, they found the two men, 30-year-old Joshua Tyler Mitchell of Sac City and 25-year-old Cole Charles Hammond of Odebolt, with a flatbed trailer loaded with sheet metal that was earlier reported stolen from a farm place in rural Buena Vista County. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office was notified and responded to the incident as well. Both Mitchell and Hammond were taken into custody and transported to the Buena Vista County jail. Later that day, the Sac County Sheriff’s Office located additional stolen property relating to this case at a vacant farm property in the 1600 block of Perkins Avenue near Nemaha. Mitchell and Hammond have been charged by Sac County with possession of stolen property, class D felonies, and possession of burglary tools, aggravated misdemeanors. Both men have since been released from the Buena Vista County jail.
