Thursday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, and the Carroll American Legion is hosting their annual breakfast. RT Schreck says they owe a big thank you to Hy-Vee in Carroll for donating all of the food and helping with the serving.
Schreck says they do have a couple of options available for the veterans and active military members this year.
The veterans are always very appreciative, Schreck says. And you can learn a lot just by sitting down and listening to some of their stories.
Again, the breakfast will be served from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11 at the American Legion on Heires Avenue. This year’s menu includes an egg bake, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, juice, coffee and pastries. The Legion’s annual ticket raffle is taking place right now, and Schreck says this is their one big fundraiser of the year.
The Legion will also be putting out flags in honor of all veterans and active military members along the highway from Northwest to Clark Streets. Schreck says they want to thank Barb Daisy and the Boy Scouts and the Kuemper and Carroll baseball teams and coaches for their help with putting up and taking down the flags this time and for the Memorial Day and Fourth of July holidays.
