Marvin Sporrer of Dedham

Marvin Bernard Sporrer, 82 of Dedham, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham.  The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm, assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners.  Music will be provided by Cindy Bauer and the parish choir.  Gift Bearers will be Marvin’s grandchildren.  Eucharistic Ministers will be Dale Sporrer and Lori Seidl.  Honorary Casket Bearers will be Pat Sporrer, Tim Pedersen, and the T&D coffee crew.  Casket Bearers will be Aaron Irlbeck, Steve Siebert, Bruce Determann, Ethan Determann, Evan Determan, and Cayson Irlbeck.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham with military honors conducted by the Dedham American Legion.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.  Additional visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Marvin Bernard Sporrer, was born on December 6, 1938, in Dedham, Iowa, to Leonard and Sabina (Heithoff) Sporrer.  He met his future wife, Susan Bierl in 1961 while attending one of many dances at Starline Ballroom in Carroll.  Marvin and Susan were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Carroll on September 14th, 1963.  The pair would go on to move to the family farm in 1971 where they raised their 7 children.
Marvin spent his early years tiling, doing carpentry work and farming.  He enjoyed his time with his family, his dog Bella and watching good old-fashioned westerns.  He loved nothing more than spending most mornings with his buddies at T&D in Coon Rapids.  And as Marvin would say… “I’ll see you around if you don’t turn square.”
Marvin is survived by his wife Susan Sporrer of Dedham; children: Laurie Sporrer of Dedham, Greg Sporrer of Dedham, Chad Sporrer of Dedham, Stacy (Bruce) Determann of Glidden, Joyce (Steve) Siebert of Johnston, Jacque (Aaron) Irlbeck of Grimes and Cory (Amber) Sporrer of Glidden; Grandkids: Anna Determann, Alexis Determann, Ethan Determann, Evan Determann, Taylor Siebert, Cadee Siebert, Emily Irlbeck, Cayson Irlbeck, Luke Sporrer, Noah Sporrer, Blakeley Sporrer and Connor Sporrer; Siblings: Arlene Wanninger of Coon Rapids, LaVonne Thobe of Carroll, Bernice Thobe and her husband Marvin of Audubon, Jan Wieland of Templeton, Audrey Behrens and her husband Bob of Manning, Melvin Sporrer and his wife Kathy of Portsmouth and Joan Irlmeier of Coon Rapids; sisters-in-law, Wanda Sporrer of Carroll, Bev Sporrer of Audubon and Betty Klocke and her husband Tom of Coon Rapids; brother-in-law Ron Roeder of Arthur.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Sabina Sporrer; siblings – two brothers in infancy, Joyce Irlmeier, Jerome Sporrer and Cletus Sporrer; Father and mother-in-law Henry and Elizabeth Bierl; brothers-in-law: Don Wanninger, John Thobe, Gary Irlmeier, Joseph Bierl, LeRoy Bierl, Melvin Petersen, Fred Eischeid and Alvin Haberl; sisters-in-law: Thelma Bierl, Florine Petersen, Waunita Eischeid, Rita Haberl, Nathael Meiners, Marilyn Roeder and Diane Bierl.
