Elmer was born on November 25, 1930 in Carroll, IA, and he was the son of Peter and Augusta (Winker) Daiker.  Elmer was a lifelong Carroll County resident and attended Carroll High School.  He was married to Rose Ann Rix on January 11, 1951 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll by Fr. Koester. Elmer and Rose lived in Carroll for one year and then moved to their farm north of Carroll. Elmer and Rose became the Administrators of the Carroll County Care Facility in 1967 where he worked until his retirement. Elmer was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  In retirement, Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing in the mid-west, but mostly in the Carroll area.  He also loved gardening; and “oh the tomatoes” living on the homestead he so loved.

Elmer is survived by his children and their families: Steve and Deanna Daiker of Carroll, Nancy Daiker and Barry Peterson of Leon, Bo and Amy Jo Larrington of Linn Creek, MO; daughter-in-law Mary Lynn Daiker of Carroll; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Barbara Daiker of Omaha; and several nieces and nephews.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Alma Meyer (Paul), a brother Paul Daiker; his wife Rose Ann Daiker 2015, and his son Stan Daiker in 2018.
