Woman Accused Of Pretending To Be Government Official During Burglary Pleads Not Guilty

An Arcadia woman accused of pretending to be associated with the Carroll County Assessor’s Office in order to gain entrance into a rural Breda home has been scheduled for trial in February. Thirty-year-old Cassandra Lynne Vonnahme pled not guilty last week in Carroll County District Court to one count of second-degree burglary, a class C felony. Law enforcement alleges Vonnahme identified herself as a county official to convince the victim to allow her to inspect the interior of the residence and then stole prescription medications. Her jury trial is slated to begin on Feb. 15 with a pretrial conference scheduled for Feb. 7. A class C felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
