Carroll PD Reminds Residents Of Two Important Seasonal Ordinances

With the first snowfall under our belt, the Carroll Police Department is reminding residents of two very important ordinances that will be enforced throughout the winter months. The first is Carroll City Ordinance 136.03, which requires property owners to remove snow and/or ice accumulations from their sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of the snow or ice event. Noncompliance will result in a formal notification allowing another 24 hours for removal. If not done in that amount of time, the city will hire a contractor to clean the sidewalk and the cost, plus a $75 administrative fee, will be assessed back to the property owner. The other ordinance, 69.11, outlines parking regulations during snow events. All vehicles must be removed from roadways when snow removal operations are in progress and before such operations have resulted in the removal or clearance of snow from city streets. Violators are subject to citations and the associated fines, of $10 per violation, or the vehicle may be towed. Towing fees will be assessed back to the vehicle along with impound and storage costs. Anyone with questions about these ordinances can contact the Carroll Police Department at 792-3536 or City Hall at 792-1000. Links to these city ordinances can be found below.
