Cindy Johnson Elected New CCSD Board President At Monday’s Organizational Meeting

Cindy Johnson has been selected to serve as the new president of the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education. Last night’s (Monday) proceedings served as the board’s annual organizational meeting. Johnson was nominated for the position by current Board President, Karen Friedlein, and seconded by Onica Ulveling. No other nominations were submitted, and Johnson was approved unanimously. Board Secretary, Nicole McCarville, administered the oath of office.

Johnson thanked the board for their confidence and took over running the meeting after taking the oath. They then moved into selecting their vice president for the coming year. Friedlein nominated Ulveling to take the position, and she was seconded by Johnson. Again, no other nominations were submitted, and Ulveling was approved unanimously. The board also swore in its newest member, Kristen Lundstrom, who defeated Jen Munson in the Nov. 2 city/school elections. Prior to her leaving the board, Friedlein offered Munson the board’s thanks for her service to the district.

School officials also approved their meeting schedule for the next year. They chose to continue using the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Adams Elementary School boardroom, unless otherwise noted, and will utilize the consent agenda meeting structure. The board also discussed the employee voluntary early retirement plan, changes to the videoboard at the Carroll Athletic Stadium and bus driver incentives at Monday’s meeting. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more on these subjects in upcoming newscasts.
