Jan Holdsworth of Manilla

A Celebration of Life for 59-year-old, Jan Holdsworth of Manilla is being planned to be held in the next few weeks.  Visitation for her will on Monday from 4 to 7 pm at Sacred Heart Church in Manilla.  Ohde Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

     Janet Irene, daughter of Edwin Henry and Bernice (Heithoff) Halbur was born January 25, 1962, in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up with several siblings on a farm southwest of Coon Rapids. Jan attended school at Coon Rapids and graduated with the Class of 1980. She then completed the Medical Secretary program at Iowa Western Community College. Jan first worked at Physicians Laboratory in Omaha and then for Dr. Dennis Crabb in Denison.

   On April 20, 1985, Jan was united in marriage with Mark Holdsworth at Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids. Three children were born to this union.  The couple farmed near Manilla. Starting in 1991, Janet worked at the Manilla Insurance Agency.

   Jan was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Manilla, she enjoyed walking, tending to her flowers, reading and talking. For many years, she enjoyed her time with “Friday Night, Girls Night.” Jan loved her kids and grandkids and enjoyed attending their ballgames and concerts.

   After a courageous battle with cancer, Jan died peacefully at home near Manilla on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. She was 59 years, 9 months and 24 days of age.

   Jan was preceded in death by her father Ed Halbur; brother Dale Halbur; brother-in-law Andy Holdsworth; and Mark’s parents Raymond and Donna Holdsworth.

   She is survived by her husband Mark Holdsworth of Manilla;  children: Kyle (Elen) Holdsworth of Sergeant Bluff; Aaron Holdsworth of Manilla; and Kiley (Cole) Blair of Lake City; four grandchildren: Maximus and Zoey Holdsworth & Maverick and Ivy Blair; mother Bernice Halbur of Coon Rapids; siblings: Joyce Dowell (Jim) of Kansas City, MO; Don Halbur (Val) of Springfield, MO; Dave Halbur (Chris McKenney) of Coon Rapids; Rick Halbur (Nadine) of Adel; Judy Oswald (Mike) of Coon Rapids;  Doug Halbur (Lisa) of Omaha, NE; and Denny Halbur (Julie) of Coon Rapids; brother-in-law Jerry Holdsworth of Manilla; sister-in-law Susan Ballantine (Donny) of Vail; and by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. www.ohdefuneralhome.com
