New Council Members And Mayor Join Sitting Members For Annual Planning Session

This past Tuesday, the newly elected Carroll mayor, Mark Beardmore, and council members, JJ Schreck, Tom Bordenaro and Kyle Bauer, joined sitting council members for a more than four-hour planning session at the Swan Lake State Park Education Center. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says this is always a good time to connect with and get to know their team members a little better.

They spent a great deal of that time diving into the status of the various projects as well as the successes, issues, concerns, trends and opportunities to improve Carroll that were faced over the past year. The important part of this process, Pogge-Weaver says, is determining if there are initiatives and programs available that should be utilized for the betterment of the community.

When it comes to the prioritization of items, Pogge-Weaver says there was one that drew a general consensus of support from attendees.

Pogge-Weaver adds the planning session was a great opportunity to open a dialog among the council members. This is the second year Elizabeth Hansen, founder and President of Midwest Municipal Consulting, LLC led the discussion as the first step in the annual planning process.

Pogge-Weaver says they anticipate the report from this planning session will be presented to the council at their Dec. 13 meeting.
