A project that would extend water mains from Lake City to Lanesboro is moving forward as the Carroll County Board of Supervisors reviewed a utility permit on Monday morning. Carroll County Engineer, Zac Andersen, says he has worked with the project engineers to get to this point.
Andersen says he is estimating there is less than 2,000 feet total in the right of way, maybe closer to 1,500 feet or so.
Of the roughly three miles within Carroll County, there is only one place where the lines would cross a roadway.
Areas where the line is close to the road or in the bottom of the ditch are being bored. Andersen says there are only a couple of areas in the back of ditches where they will be open cutting. There are other concerns along this route as well.
The last update Andersen received on the plan has the bid letting taking place as early as February with construction starting in the spring. The goal is to have the entire project completed within the next construction season, which does include some of the colder months at the end of 2022. Andersen again outlines the area of the seven-to-eight-mile-long project.
The board unanimously approved the utility permit application.
