Storm Lake Man Arrested After Striking, Choking And Threatening To Kill Woman

A Storm Lake Man has bonded out of jail after being arrested for allegedly choking a woman and threatening her with a gun and knife. The Storm Lake Police Department was called to the scene at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Friday for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, they found the female victim outside the apartment building on East 4th Street. She told authorities that 28-year-old Chai Lee was inside with three minor children and was in possession of a rifle and knife. The investigation revealed Lee had allegedly arrived at the victim’s apartment around midnight, armed, and proceeded to strike the woman in the face with his hands, choke her and displayed the gun and knife while threatening to kill her. She was able to flee and call 911. The victim suffered injuries to her neck and face, but did not require medical treatment at the scene. Lee was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Buena Vista County Jail. He has been charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing injury, a class D felony, and first-degree harassment and three counts of child endangerment, aggravated misdemeanors.
