Sac City Council Approves Criss Trust Request For Bridge Project

The Sac City Council is moving forward with the next round of Criss Trust beautification efforts in the community. Representatives of the trust brought their proposals to city leaders during their Nov. 23 meeting. Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, explains what they have planned.

He adds they also have plans to upgrade the pedestrian lighting in the same area.

The council voted unanimously to move forward with the proposal. Work on the project is expected to begin in spring of 2022. Lawrence says they have also finished with a separate endeavor in the downtown district.

Since its creation, the Criss Trust has completed numerous beautification and quality-of-life projects in town, and Lawrence says other communities are taking note.

The Criss Trust was formed in 2015 after the death of Sac City businessman, John Criss. He left $5.7 million to the city with the funds only to be used on beautification projects. So far, those funds have been used to build a new shelter house in South Park, refresh the entryway on the east side of town and more.
