The 15th annual Gloves of Love program for the Storm Lake Police Association kicked off early this week. The Christmas tree is up and lit in the lobby of the Police Administration building and they are inviting area residents and businesses to hang children’s gloves and other items of donated clothing on the tree now through Wednesday, Dec. 15. After collecting the donated items, they will be delivered to the Upper Des Moines office to be distributed to children and families in need this holiday season. “Please consider donating so those less fortunate than ourselves may have a happy holiday,” says Treasurer of the association, Lt. John Bauer. “It is our hope to be able to help as many families as possible.” Items can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
