An opioid settlement agreement and more funding requests from local non-profit agencies will be brought before the Carroll County Board of Supervisors at their regular meeting Monday, Dec. 6. The meeting will be called to order at 9 a.m. in the lower-level meeting room at the Carroll County Courthouse. They will begin with a presentation from the Community of Concern Food Pantry before discussing both the distribution participation and Janssen participation agreements for a proposed opioid settlement. In August, Iowa Attorney General, Tom Miller, announced he had signed on to a proposed $26 billion in settlement agreements with opioid distributors, Cardinal, McKesson and AmerisourceBergen as well as manufacturers, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and their parent company, Johnson and Johnson. The resulting payout will be used for treatment of opioid addiction and in preventative measures as the counties and state work to address the opioid crisis. Following that discussion, the board will review appointment resolutions for the Treasurer’s Office and annual manure management updates before hearing a Fiscal Year 2023 funding request from the Family Crisis Center. The public is invited to attend the meeting in person and it will also be livestreamed on the county’s YouTube channel, a link to which is included below.
