The Knights were up 24-13 in the 2nd quarter and 54-45 in the 4th quarter but Denison Schleswig closed out the 1st half on a 13-2 run and closed the game on a 24-5 run. Kuemper was outscored 29-15 in the 4th quarter.  Dawson Gifford of Kuemper and Head Coach Sean Minnehan said Kuemper took some early threes when they were up late and didn’t do a good enough job keeping Denison Schleswig off the free throw line. The Monarchs were 22-33 from the line, outscoring Kuemper by 10 points from the charity strip. Kuemper had some really good moments, controlling the 1st quarter with defense and holding Denison Schleswig to 1 point in the 2nd quarter until the run just before half. Isaac Evans battled foul trouble, taking away the Knights best inside presence.

Denison Schleswig finished the half on a 13-2 run capped by a half court buzzer beater and trailed 26-24 at half.

The Monarchs came out strong to start the 2nd half and grabbed a 28-26 lead on a bucket by Aiden Schuttinga. The lead grew to 32-28 and Kuemper called a timeout. The Knights held the lead until Carson Seuntjens put Denison Schleswig up 40-39. Dawson Gifford found DJ Vonnahme for a bucket and the Knights took the lead right back at 42-40 after the Vonnahme free throw. Gifford extended the lead to 44-40. After a Monarch three, Vonnahme found Isaac Evans for a bucket and Jared Hausman hit his second three and Kuemper was up 49-43. Hausman fed Nate Overmohle for a three and Kuemper was up 54-45. Denison Schleswig rolled off 13 straight points after late and led 59-54.
