A joint investigation by the Atlantic Police Department, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has resulted in the arrest of a suspect in an Atlantic stabbing. The incident was reported to the Atlantic Police Department at approximately 11:51 p.m. Sunday by Cass County Memorial Hospital employees when a male stabbing victim arrived at the Emergency Department. The victim was later flown to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha with serious injuries. On Monday, Dec. 6, Richard J. Doss, Jr. of Atlantic was arrested without incident and charged with attempted murder, a class B felony, and willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony. Authorities say no other details are being released at this time.
