Carroll Middle School Students Recognized At State Mock Trial Tournament

Carroll Middle School students competed in the state Mock Trial tournament last week, and several individuals were recognized for their performances. Two received All State medals, Logan Canuso as a witness and Wil Blackwill as an attorney. Honorable Mention All State honors were awarded to Yllka Islami as an attorney and Wil Blackwill as a witness. Thirty-two teams, made up of eight to 10 students from around Iowa, competed in the state tournament at Veteran’s Memorial Convention Center in Des Moines. Carroll’s Team Black narrowly lost the first trial to a team from Johnston. They also lost a close case to an Okoboji team and ended up placing 24th overall. The middle school mock trial teams are coached by instructor, Kelly Borchers, and local attorney, Eric Neu. Other Team Black members include: Bri Kiger, Jada Knowles, Cameron Kinkade, Grace Kimpson, Quinten Polking, Moyer Olberding and Kierstynn Prenger.
