Just over a week remains for Lake View residents to decorate their homes for the community’s annual holiday lighting contest. There are three themes for this year’s competition: animated, the Griswolds and traditional. Decorations in the animated category will focus on Disney-centric displays while those aiming for the Griswold award are asked to go all out with their Christmas lights. In line with its title, the traditional category is based on a more polished display. Decorated homes will be judged the weekend of Dec. 18 and 19 by the Lake View Area Arts Council. A sign will be placed in the front yard of the winner of each category in recognition of their display’s excellence. Properties must be within Lake View city limits to be considered for judging, and all decorated homes are automatically entered in the contest. Winners will be formally announced following judging.
