Gov. Reynolds Extends Order Lowering Flags To Half-Staff In Honor Of Sen. Bob Dole

Flags in Iowa will remain at half-staff through sunset on Saturday, Dec. 11 in honor of former Senator, Bob Dole. Gov. Kim Reynolds’ order from earlier this week was originally set to expire today (Thursday) but was extended in conjunction with President Biden’s proclamation to amend the initial timeframe. Dole was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate for Kansas for more than 30 years. Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building, on flag displays in the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flags at half-staff for the same length of time as sign of respect.
