No injuries were reported in a minor two-vehicle accident Wednesday in Jefferson. The Jefferson Police Department responded to the scene in the 400 block of N. Elm Street at approximately 1:24 p.m. Their initial investigation determined a 2021 Ford Escape, owned and operated by Belinda Lawson of Jefferson, was stopped waiting to make a left turn on the inside lane when a northbound 2020 International semi-tractor trailer, owned by 4-J Farms of Redfield and operated by Edward Hurst of Adel, failed to notice the stopped SUV and rear-ended the Lawson vehicle. Damage to the Ford is estimated at $5,000 and the semi sustained approximately $500 in damage. Hurst was cited for failure to stop in an assured clear distance ahead.
