Ronald Denney Sr. of Carroll

Ronald Melvin Denney Sr., age 68, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Manning Regional Healthcare in Manning, IA.
Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, December 12, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Tim Hawkinson officiating. Casket bearers will be Ron’s grandsons.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday.  Additional visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home from 10 – 11 A.M. on Monday prior to the service.

Ron was born on December 11, 1952 in St. Joseph, MO, and was the son of Oscar and Letty (Nave) Denney.  His parents moved to Carroll when he was 2 years old where he grew up and graduated from Carroll High School.  Following high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Army and served three years during the Vietnam Conflict.  Following his honorable discharge, Ron returned to Carroll and worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company.  He later began his career in trucking and drove for Crouse Cartage for several years.  Ron later purchased his own truck and began driving for himself which he did for 46 years.  Ron truly loved his family and cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. 
Ron is survived by his children and their families: Angie Hoyt (Andrew) of Woodward, IA, Ron Denney Jr. (Melanie) of Breda, Kim Sorenson (Kevin) of Ames, and Scott Denney (Jenn) of Cedar Rapids, IA; seven grandchildren: Brandon Denney, Cameron Hoyt, Aaron Denney, Noah Hoyt, Jacob Sorenson, Bryce Sorenson, and Alex Hoyt; two sisters: Phyllis Winn of The Colony, TX, and Shari Seipel (Charlie) of Topeka, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Letty Denney and his wife Sandy in 2014.
