Panora Man Cited After Leaving The Scene Of A Property Damage Accident Sunday

A Panora man has been cited for leaving the scene of a property damage accident in which the vehicle was totaled. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a local towing service at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday and the owner reported they received a call from 61-year-old Peter Aldrich Kelloway, II at approximately 4:19 p.m. that afternoon requesting they remove a vehicle from the ditch on Sage Trail, north of 190th Street, north of Panora. When the deputy arrived at the scene, he observed a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu in the west ditch with severe damage. All airbags had deployed in the vehicle, but no driver was at the scene or arrived during the initial investigation and no driver reported the accident to the Sheriff’s Office. The tow truck driver told authorities Kelloway had said he was driving at the time of the accident and had swerved to avoid striking a deer. The deputy contacted Kelloway by phone, who confirmed this account. Upon arrival at Kelloway’s residence, the deputy found him to be heavily intoxicated and he admitted he had consumed “one or two drinks,” prior to the accident. Kelloway was cited for failure to maintain or use safety belts, failure to give notice of address or name change, failure to maintain control and leaving the scene of an accident-property damage only.
