Formal Charges Filed Against Carroll Man Accused Of Wielding Knife During Attempted Truck Theft

Trial information was filed last week in Carroll County District Court against a Carroll man accused of threatening a man with a knife and trying to steal his truck. Thirty-six-year-old Anthony Ray Crook is charged with assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident in the 600 block of N. Court Street on Oct. 24. A Carroll Police Department affidavit alleges Crook was found inside the victim’s truck and assaulted the truck’s owner when confronted. Authorities say Crook initially tried to punch and kick the victim before getting out and attacking him with a knife in his hand. Crook was taken into custody and transported to the St. Anthony Regional Hospital emergency room for an evaluation following the incident and was arrested on the resulting warrant on Nov. 19. Crook’s arraignment hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 22. An aggravated misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
