A Carroll man now faces two felony counts in Carroll County District Court after he was found with a firearm that he was barred from possessing on separate occasions. Trial information filed Friday shows 37-year-old Shelby Joseph Norman is charged with receipt, dominion and control of firearms, offensive weapons and ammunition by a felon, a class D felony. The charges stem from two incidents. According to law enforcement, Norman is accused of being in possession of a loaded 9 mm handgun on Aug. 19 and Nov. 23. In January 2016, Norman was convicted of willful injury causing bodily injury and domestic abuse assault while displaying a weapon in Clarke County District Court, making it illegal for him to own or have access to a firearm. Each count carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 13.
