William “Bill” Herman Kanzmeier, age 84, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Organist for the service will be Patti Patrick. Casket bearers will be Coleton Kanzmeier, Gage Kanzmeier, Jeff Shirbroun, Joel Johnson, George Johnston, and Jake Johnston. Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 4 – 6 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a prayer service held at 5:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until the time of service.

Bill was born on December 10, 1937 in Carroll, IA, and he was the son of Willi and Rose (Kruger) Kanzmeier. He grew up in Coon Rapids where he graduated from high school. He began farming his family’s farm immediately following high school with the help of his mother as his father had passed away. Bill raised livestock, mainly cattle, and crops. He was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on various boards. Bill enjoyed being with his family and going for drives in his pickup.
Bill is survived by his wife Vivian of Coon Rapids; daughter Natalie Knowles of Gambrills, MD; son Adam Kanzmeier (Heather) of Omaha, NE; two grandsons: Coleton and Gage Kanzmeier; a sister LaVonne Bane of Coon Rapids; and a brother-in-law Virgil Bane.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Willi and Rose Kanzmeier and two sisters: Marion Long and her husband Alvin and Louise Stierwalt and her husband Russ.
