Gov. Kim Reynolds signed an order today (Friday) issuing a disaster proclamation for Carroll County following the derecho that moved through the state Wednesday. The proclamation allows state resources to be used for response to and recovery from the storm’s widespread damage. It also activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program for individuals with incomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. These grants of up to $5,000 can be used for home or car repairs, clothing or food replacement and temporary housing expenses. Original receipts are required for eligible applicants seeking reimbursement. The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program will be available through Jan. 31. The proclamation also opens the Disaster Case Management Program to all affected individuals who have experienced hardship, injury or adverse conditions due to the storm. Case managers will work with these individuals to develop a recovery plan and help them obtain necessary services. This is offered regardless of income and is available through June 15. More information and application forms can be found included below this story. With the addition of Carroll County, 50 of Iowa’s 99 counties are now under a disaster proclamation, including Audubon, Buena Vista, Calhoun, Greene, Guthrie, Sac and Shelby Counties.
