A Carroll man faces two counts of assault for allegedly attacking two people Wednesday morning. The Carroll Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of E. 18th Street at approximately 10:51 a.m. after a third-party caller reported an ongoing altercation with a knife involved. Officers located the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Omare Davonte Prince, standing at the bottom of the stairs in the Fairview Apartments wielding a knife. Prince released the weapon and was taken into custody after an officer drew his Taser. One victim reported Prince had grabbed the knife during an argument and threatened to kill them if they called law enforcement. The same witness told authorities Prince had made other violent statements during the incident, including that he was ready to die and he hated white people. The second victim reported Prince had struck them in the face with a closed fist. He was transported to the Carroll County jail and booked on the simple misdemeanor charges. He was released on a promise to appear at future court hearings, the next being Feb. 10.
