Iowa’s Seasonal Unemployment Rates Drop Slightly In November

Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped two-tenths of a percent in November, from 3.9 to 3.7 percent. According to Iowa Workforce Development, the total number of working Iowans rose to 1,599,300 in November, which is 3,100 higher than October and 38,400 higher than one year ago. “Iowa’s economy continued to improve in November, with gains in unemployment nearly across the board,” says Iowa Workforce Development Director, Beth Townsend. “Iowa companies showed more comfort with increasing their staffing levels, and they found plenty of Iowans ready to launch new careers. We hope to build on this growth in 2022, when our Reemployment Case Management program will add new urgency to the process of helping Iowans find employment.” While the manufacturing sector actually reported a loss of 5,500 jobs in November, leisure and hospitality recorded the most gains at more than 16,100. The majority of these have been in accommodations and food services.
