An annual tradition brings a special meal and fellowship to area residents this Christmas. The Carroll Masons will be hosting their Christmas dinner for all at noon on Christmas Day. Joe Reed, the Worshipful Master at the Carroll Masonic Lodge, says the Masons took over the hosting of the dinner several years ago.

There are about 15 members who are volunteering to cook, serve and deliver the meals.

The last time the dinner was held was in 2019 as the 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID. Reed says that year, they had only a little turkey left by the time they stopped serving. For those who are not comfortable with group settings, they can still come to the Masonic Lodge on Christmas Day and get a complete meal to go.

Reed says this would not be possible without support from the community and Hy-Vee, Fareway, The Market on 30 and Smithfield Foods who have donated all of the food. Again, that meal will be served at the Carroll Masonic Lodge, 2002 N. Highway 71, with takeout beginning at 11 a.m. and the sit-down meal at noon. The dinner is free for all who attend.
