At their most recent meeting, the Carroll City Council approved a change to the district voting maps for residents. City Clerk and Finance Director, Laura Schaefer, says staff had previously recommended two blocks from Ward 1 be moved into Ward 4. This changes population variances from negative 73 in Ward One to plus 12 and in Ward Four from positive 87 to plus two. There was one comment made at a previous meeting about the option of creating more uniform boundaries, but this was not going to create the most parity in population numbers and did not sway the council’s decision to move forward. The council members unanimously approved the second reading of the change, waived the third and adopted the resolution. Also at this meeting, the council was asked to work with the county to include Ward Two and Ward Three with the Maple River Township as a voting precinct. This was approved by both the Carroll County Board of Supervisors and the Carroll City Council.
