Wall Lake Man Arrested After Leading Sac County Authorities On High-Speed Chase Tuesday

A Wall Lake man is in custody after leading authorities on a high-speed chase Tuesday. Sac County Sheriff, Ken McClure, reports that a deputy on patrol in Wall Lake saw a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck without plates. The driver was also recognized as 27-year-old Ralph John Freese, who had outstanding arrest warrants from Ida County alleging felony probation violation and an aggravated misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on a driving while barred charge. The deputy attempted to pull over the pickup, but Freese accelerated. A pursuit ensued, lasting approximately nine minutes and reaching speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour. Freese lost control after crossing the intersection of Hope Avenue and 400th Street, entered the south ditch, struck a tree and rolled the vehicle. The truck was totaled in the accident and Freese was transported to Loring Hospital in Sac City by Sac County Emergency Medical Services. He was treated and released to the custody of the Sac County Sheriff’s Office. Additional charges have been levied against Freese, including eluding and driving while suspended. He is being held in the Sac County jail on a $17,300 bond.
