The Jefferson Police Department is investigating a reported hit-and-run car accident that occurred Sunday in a downtown parking lot. At approximately 2:22 p.m., Nate Byerly of Churdan reported his 2020 Chevrolet K1500 had been parked in a lot in the 100 block of W. Washington Street. When he returned to his vehicle, approximately $400 in damage had been done to the rear of the truck. Law enforcement is working to identify the driver of the suspect vehicle, and an investigation is ongoing.
