Sac City Woman Arrested On Multiple Felony Drug Charges In Storm Lake

The Storm Lake Police Department reports a Sac City woman was taken into custody last week on multiple felony drug charges. At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, an officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 8th Street and Lake Avenue. Law enforcement identified the driver as 43-year-old Letitia Lynn Hightower of Sac City and determined she had an active arrest warrant out of Cerro Gordo County for escape from custody. A K9 unit was deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search of Hightower’s vehicle revealed approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was taken into custody and transported to the Buena Vista County jail where she was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a class B felony, two counts of third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, class D felonies and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. These charges carry a maximum penalty of up to 35 years in prison and over $25,000 in fines. As of Tuesday, Hightower is being held without bond and is awaiting extradition to Cerro Gordo County.
