Mark Halbur of Carroll

Mark Alan Halbur, age 62, of Carroll passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
Funeral service will be held 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Deacon David Prenger officiating.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 – 6:15 P.M. prior to the service.
A private burial will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll on Friday, January 7, 2022.

Mark was born on July 31, 1959 in Carroll and he was the son of Vernice and Nancy (Yoss) Halbur.  He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1977.  Following high school he worked for Farmland in Carroll and then moved to Omaha and LeMars working in the grocery industry before moving back to Carroll in 2015. He was married to Laura James on December 5, 1981 in Carroll and the couple later divorced.  Mark most recently worked for Fareway Grocery Store.  He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, woodworking, kayaking, and most of all spending time with his family.
Mark is survived by his three children and their families: Mike Halbur (Mandy) of Dubuque, Holly Schaefer of Carroll, and Amanda Halbur (Adam Wempe) of Carroll; seven grandchildren: Kenedy, Shelby, Destiny, Jaxon, Jase, Bella, and Anna; his father Vernice “Windy” Halbur of Carroll; two sisters: Paula Smith of Boone and Vicki Halbur of Omaha; a brother Gary Halbur (Becky) of Omaha; many nieces and nephews, and other extended family members.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Halbur and his brother Glen both in 2015.
