Statewide Fuel Prices Saw Mild, If Any, Movement For The Week Ending Jan. 5

Prices for motor and home heating fuels in Iowa saw only slight changes, both up and down, over the last week. According to AAA for the week ending Jan. 5, a gallon of unleaded gasoline averaged $3.06 per gallon, a three-cent rise from last week and $0.83 cents higher than one year ago. The national average was up one cent to $3.29. Retail diesel in Iowa rose one cent to $3.33 during the last seven days. That is $0.87 above the price last year but still well below the national average of $3.57 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.14. As for home heating fuels, propane held steady at $1.89 per gallon. Home heating oil was up five cents to a stateside average of $2.96 per gallon with natural gas prices falling seven cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $3.83 per MMbtu.
