Authorities Release Details Of Head-On Collision On Hwy 30 Last Week In Jefferson

Authorities in Jefferson have released additional details regarding a Friday morning head-on collision on Highway 30. At approximately 9:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to the scene near the intersection with Mulberry Street along with the Jefferson Fire Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Greene County Emergency Medical Services in response to the reported crash. Their investigation found a 2005 Nissan Sentra, owned by Mariah McCoy of Wakefield, Neb. and driven by James Cummings of Des Moines, and a 2008 Buick SUV, owned by Jose Baquere of Fort Morgan, Colo. and driven by Luis Mendoza, had collided near the intersection, but they were unable to determine which driver had crossed into the wrong lane. Cummings was transported to the Greene County Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
