A Panora man has been charged with operating while intoxicated after crashing into a tree early Sunday morning near Lake Panorama. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene near the intersection of Cyprus Lane and Panorama Drive at approximately 12:37 a.m. Upon arrival, law enforcement located a 2018 Ford Edge in the ditch northwest of the intersection. According to law enforcement, the driver, identified as 42-year-old Carl Dean Snowden, had lost control of the SUV while traveling northbound and left the roadway. Authorities detected the odor of alcohol emanating from Snowden and indicated he was showing signs of intoxication. He was taken into custody and transported to the Guthrie County jail. A breath test administered at that time returned a blood alcohol content of 0.159, nearly twice the legal limit. A passenger in the Snowden vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Guthrie County Hospital for treatment. Damage to the Ford was estimated at $20,000. The Panora Police Department assisted the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
