Lake View Police Department Receives Report Of Counterfeit Currency Used At Local Business

Authorities in Lake View have issued a warning to local businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit currencies after a fake bill was located earlier this week. According to Lake View Police Chief, Brandon Rinnan, he is only aware of one incident so far, but individuals who handle cash regularly should be vigilant, especially when accepting larger denominations. Authentic notes feature color-shifting ink, watermarks, red and blue threads woven into the bill and other security features. Fake currency is often easily identifiable if scrutinized. In addition to the lack of security features, phony bills generally have blurry borders or text, foreign language lettering or say “for motion picture use only.” Businesses who suspect they have received counterfeit currency should contact their local law enforcement agency.
