State and local law enforcement have opened an investigation into a reported gunshot injury at a Rockwell City convenience store. At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Rockwell City Police Department was dispatched to Casey’s General Store in the 600 block of W. High Street in response to a male subject in need of help. Upon arrival, officers learned the individual had suffered a gunshot wound, and he was transported by Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services to Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. The unidentified victim was later airlifted to a Des Moines Hospital for additional treatment and is listed in stable condition. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is leading the investigation with assistance from the Rockwell City Police Department, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol.
