Brynn Bass and the Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders picked up a nice road win and a new individual record for Bass as they took on the Grand View Christian Thunder Monday night.

Grand View Christian started off in a low-scoring first quarter with the lead over the Crusaders by a score of 10-6. Coon Rapids Bayard was quickly able to adjust and find ways to shut down the Thunder defense in the second quarter. The four point Thunder lead quickly turned into a 14-1 quarter for the Crusaders and eventually the lead at 20-11 going into halftime. Bass had a stellar night offensively, recording 26 points and leading the charge for the Crusader’s rebound from the second quarter on. She also set a new school record with her performance against Grand View Christian, 40-made three pointers in a single season.

Both teams struggled in the third quarter to put points on the board, but it was the Thunder who had the scoring advantage at 5-4. While being outpaced, the Crusaders still held on to their lead at 24-26 heading into the fourth quarter. Miranda McClellan was a big help on the rebounding end of the game for the Crusaders, grabbing 13 boards on the night. Bass and McClellan’s efforts throughout the game allowed Coon Rapids Bayard to have a solid fourth quarter to bring everything all together. The Crusaders went off and had their best performance in the fourth with 18 points and were able to get past Grand View Christian 42-26.
