St. Anthony Regional Hospital was one of 38 Iowa employers awarded a combined $1.4 million through Iowa Workforce Development’s (IWD) Employer Innovation Fund. St. Anthony will receive $19,500 to support credential attainment, training and education for health-care careers in the Carroll area. The funds are to be used to sponsor community-based scholarships for individuals entering nursing fields and provide educational assistance to employees advancing in their practice. The Employer Innovation Fund is part of Gov. Kim Reynolds’ Future Ready Iowa initiative. IWD Director, Beth Townsend, says, “Solving Iowa’s workforce needs over the long term is going to require a wide range of approaches and a willingness to embrace new ideas. These grants are rewarding Iowa businesses for developing new ways to solve their own workforce issues.” Future Ready Iowa, which was announced in 2016, aims for 70 percent of Iowa’s workforce to have education or training beyond high school by 2025.
