Ronald Alyisious Colling, age 88, of Manning, IA, and formerly of Sanborn, IA, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Manning Haus Barn. The honorary urn bearers will be his grandchildren. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery at a later date.

The son of Arthur and Rose (Schemmel) Colling, was born November 9, 1933 in Sheldon, Iowa. He attended Sanborn Community Schools in Sanborn graduating with the High School Class of 1952. He attended Morningside University for a short time where he played football and eventually received an honorary degree from North Central Kansas Technical College. On February 11, 1953, he was inducted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged on February 10, 1955. He then moved to Hartley, IA, where he was employed for his in-laws, Bill and Doris Vezina at the Hartley Sentinel newspaper. In April of 1964, he moved to Manning, IA, where he purchased the Manning Monitor where he has owned and operated the newspaper until his passing. On December 5, 2003, he was united in marriage to Pam Hoven in Manning, Iowa. Ron and Pam worked side by side operating the newspaper. He was a life time member of the Manning American Legion, the Corvette Club, Cadillac La Salle, Iowa Press Association and Manning Betterment Committee. He sat on the Manning Municipal Gas Board for 20 years. He also served on the Manning City Council for several years and served as Mayor of Manning for two years. He was a member of the Haus Barn Foundation and was very instrumental in relocating the Haus Barn to Manning. Ronald was an avid hunter and enjoyed restoring cars in his spare time. But most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ronald is survived by his wife Pam Colling of Manning, IA; daughter, Sue (Richard) Young of Irmo, SC and their children, Jeremy (Leighann) Rohe, Elizabeth (John) Taylor, and Jayson Rohe; daughter, Stephanie (Doug) Irvin of Nocona, TX and their children, Shane (Keri), Nick (Brittany), and Christopher (Katie); daughter, Lorie (Don) Cook-Benjamin of Hickman, NE and their children, Jared (Edith “little Edie”) Cook, Levi (Mary) Benjamin, and Clint Benjamin; son, Travis (Kelly) Sybesma of Goodyear, AZ and their children, Paige Sybesma, Keely Sybesma, Paige (Josh) Kalkhoff, and Cody Niehaus; son, Jamien (Ka-Dee) Sybesma of Manning, IA and their children, Eli (Katie) Sybesma, Abe (Jordynne) Sybesma, Ethan Smith, Jordon Smith, and Kori Sybesma; numerous great grandchildren; brothers-in-laws, Bill Knock of Sanborn, IA, and Eddie Robinson of Hartley, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Dillon; parents; brother, Jim (Babe) Colling; sister, Marge Knock; sister-in-law, Billie Robinson; and special friends, Doc. Coatney and Garrett Littlejohn.
